Client Rights & Responsibilities

Catalysts Helping Increase Potential (“CHiP”) is committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for every individual we serve. We believe all people deserve dignity, fairness, compassion, and equal access to support — regardless of their circumstances or background.

CHiP does not discriminate in its programs, services, activities, volunteer opportunities, or partnerships on the basis of:

  • race
  • color
  • national origin
  • citizenship status
  • religion or faith
  • sex or gender

CHiP (Catalysts Helping Increase Potential) is committed to treating every individual with dignity, compassion, and respect. To ensure a safe and supportive environment for all, we outline the following rights and responsibilities for individuals receiving services from our organization.


Client Rights

Every individual receiving services from CHiP has the right to:


1. Respect & Dignity

Be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect—regardless of background, circumstances, or personal history.


2. Non-Discrimination

Receive services free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, veteran status, socioeconomic status, housing status, or criminal history.


3. Privacy & Confidentiality

Have personal information kept confidential except when:

  • required by law
  • needed to prevent immediate harm
  • shared with your permission
  • shared with CHiP staff/volunteers assisting with your case
     

4. Access to Services

Request assistance from any CHiP program, subject to availability, staffing, and eligibility.

5. Safe Environment

Receive services in a respectful, safe, and supportive setting.


6. Clear Information

Receive clear explanations about services, referrals, or programs offered.


7. Participate Voluntarily

Accept or decline any service without penalty.


8. File Concerns or Complaints

Share concerns about treatment or services without fear of retaliation.
Concerns can be shared directly with CHiP staff or leadership.


Client Responsibilities

To help CHiP maintain a safe, respectful environment for all, clients are expected to:

1. Treat Others Respectfully

Show respect for staff, volunteers, and other clients.

2. Provide Honest Information

Give truthful and accurate information when requesting assistance.

3. Follow Safety Guidelines

Abide by site rules, safety instructions, and guidance from staff or volunteers.

4. Use Resources Responsibly

Use CHiP services and items (food, clothing, supplies, rides, etc.) appropriately and as intended.

5. Maintain Appropriate Behavior

Refrain from:

  • violence or threats
  • harassment
  • abusive language
  • illegal activity
  • drug or alcohol use on premises
  • disruptive behavior
     

6. Respect Confidentiality

Respect the privacy of other individuals receiving services.


7. Communicate Changes

Inform staff if your situation changes or if you no longer need certain services.


Service Limitations

CHiP may modify, delay, or decline services when:

  • resources are limited
  • safety concerns are present
  • eligibility requirements are not met
  • staff or volunteer capacity is reduced
  • behavior is unsafe or violates policy
     

We will always do our best to connect individuals to alternative resources when possible.
