Code of Conduct

Catalysts Helping Increase Potential (“CHiP”) is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all clients, volunteers, staff, and community members. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from everyone involved in CHiP programs, services, or activities.

These expectations ensure that CHiP remains a place of dignity, compassion, and safety for all.

⭐ 1. Respect & Dignity

Everyone must treat others with kindness, dignity, and respect — regardless of background, circumstances, or personal history.

This includes:

  • Professional and courteous communication
  • Respect for differing perspectives
  • Zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment
     

⭐ 2. Confidentiality

All personal information shared by clients or volunteers must remain confidential.
Staff and volunteers must follow CHiP’s Confidentiality Policy at all times.


⭐ 3. Safety

To maintain a safe environment, all individuals must:

  • Follow staff and volunteer instructions
  • Respect personal space
  • Avoid disruptive or dangerous behavior
  • Refrain from violence, threats, or intimidation
  • Comply with CHiP safety guidelines and all posted rules
     

Weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol are strictly prohibited on CHiP premises or during CHiP services.


⭐ 4. Honesty & Integrity

Individuals must provide accurate information when requesting services or support.
Staff and volunteers must conduct themselves honestly and ethically in all interactions.


⭐ 5. Appropriate Behavior

To maintain a positive environment, the following are not allowed:

  • Harassment, verbal abuse, or bullying
  • Discrimination of any kind
  • Sexual misconduct or inappropriate comments
  • Theft or misuse of property
  • Fraudulent attempts to obtain services or benefits
  • Destruction of property
     

⭐ 6. Professional Boundaries (Staff & Volunteers)

CHiP volunteers and staff must maintain professional boundaries, which include:

  • Keeping interactions respectful and appropriat
  • Not entering into romantic or financial relationships with clients
  • Not providing personal addresses or private contact information
  • Avoiding conflicts of interest
     

If questions arise, staff should consult CHiP leadership.


⭐ 7. Use of CHiP Property & Resources

CHiP equipment, donations, and supplies must be used responsibly and only for intended purposes.

Clients must not remove items without permission.


⭐ 8. Cooperation

Clients, staff, and volunteers should cooperate respectfully during services, including:

  • Following instructions
  • Participating safely
  • Providing necessary information
  • Respecting schedules and space
     

⭐ 9. Drug & Alcohol Policy

CHiP is a drug- and alcohol-free environment.
Anyone under the influence may be asked to leave if safety or behavior becomes an issue.


⭐ 10. Consequences for Violations

CHiP may take action if this Code of Conduct is violated, including:

  • Verbal warnings
  • Temporary suspension from services
  • Removal from the premises
  • Termination of volunteer role
  • Law enforcement involvement (only when necessary for safety)
     

CHiP strives to resolve concerns with compassion whenever possible.


⭐ 11. Reporting Concerns

Anyone who feels unsafe or believes this Code of Conduct has been violated may report concerns to CHiP staff or leadership.

We will take all concerns seriously and respond appropriately.
